Speakers
Joe Knadler is an attorney at Mitchell Chadwick LLP who advises clients on the legal and regulatory issues related to complex development and natural resource projects. His practice includes representing companies involved in mining, conservation, and mitigation banking, as well as traditional real estate developers. He assists clients from the initial stages of a project, such as land acquisition and due diligence, through environmental compliance, agency permitting, and the land use entitlement process. Additionally, Joe has specific experience with specialized regulations governing mitigation, mineral rights, and CEQA. Recently, Joe advised on CEQA-related issues for one of the first subsequent EIRs drafted pursuant to a new programmatic EIR specifically for restoration projects.
Gage Marchini, Attorney, White Brenner is an attorney who brings extensive litigation experience and expertise in water and environmental law. Gage represents public agencies, water districts, and private clients in complex water rights matters, groundwater adjudications, CEQA compliance, land use entitlements, and environmental regulatory proceedings. His practice encompasses both transactional work and high-stakes litigation, with a particular focus on California’s evolving water landscape and the intersection of water resources with land development. Gage’s commitment to water law extends beyond practice to scholarship. He authored “Connecting the ‘Drops’ of California Water Data: Analysis of AB 1755, The Open and Transparent Water Data Act,” published in The University of the Pacific Law Review, demonstrating his thought leadership in water resource management and policy. His agricultural background provides valuable insight when representing clients in California’s water-dependent industries.
Moderator-Ryan Thomason is a partner and land use attorney at Mitchell Chadwick LLP, where he specializes in environmental law, natural resources development, and land use entitlements. Ryan represents clients in the mining, mitigation/conservation banking, and natural resource development industries, as well as traditional developers, in all aspects of the project lifecycle, from property acquisition and initial due diligence through the environmental review and entitlement phases. He possesses specialized expertise in advising clients on mitigation and permitting requirements, mineral rights, and federal mining claims.
