The Los Angeles Chapter will host the 2021 AEP Conference at the Queen Mary in lovely Long Beach. The theme of this conference is Diving into an Ocean of Knowledge. As in the past, the 2021 conference will provide an opportunity for CEQA practitioners and technical experts to meet and discuss important topics of the day, with an emphasis on expanding our knowledge and delving deeper into how our profession can improve the environments we live in.

Session Tracks

Learning from the Past – panels focused on learning from history including architectural history, cultural resources, and solutions to promote the protection of important resources while planning for the future.

Waves of Understanding – panels focused on water resources, ports, marine resources, and water conservation. Panels in this track may discuss hydrology and water quality, but also the nuances of industries that exist at or near water sources including ports, water transit, etc.

Deep Dive into Evolving Regulations – panels focused on CEQA updates, new approaches to NEPA, and changing regulations. From VMT to the Endangered Species Act, we'd like insight into best practices for analysis and mitigation in an ever-shifting regulatory environment.

Sailing with the Ocean Breeze – panels focused on climate change and adaptation, air quality, health risk assessment, and greenhouse gas emissions analysis.

Tides of Change – panels focused on planning, environmental justice, and transportation, especially in terms of the changing regulatory environment in these important areas. Panels can discuss best practices for VMT analysis, or how environmental justice can be incorporated and analyzed in environmental documents as we expect in the near future.
