The Fire Resiliency and CEQA webinar will provide a broad overview of the wildfire crisis as it relates to California; State, regional, and local response to the crisis; the State legislative and planning framework; and integration of planning into the CEQA and streamlining process. This presentation will describe a spectrum of tools available to planners to address this crisis at State, regional, and local levels.  The presentation will address Best Management Practices, including vegetation treatment plans; opportunities to support and facilitate emergency response.  This presentation will illustrate wildfire planning tools in action through community examples, as well as emerging legislative requirements that practitioners should be aware of related to future applicability of fire safe development regulations. An important aspect of the conversation about fire resiliency and CEQA is streamlining opportunities for environmental review approaches to implement approaches to implement the wildfire risk reduction tools, including vegetation treatment. The streamlining discussion will highlight recent efforts undertaken by the Board of Forestry and Fire Protection’s California Vegetation Treatment Program EIR and other regional-scale environmental reviews in Tahoe and the Sierra Nevada.
